Lacquerous: The Netflix of Nail Polish

Lacquerous is this new website where for $18 a month you can actually rent designer nail polish.

You get 3 bottles of the colors of your choice in a pre-paid package, ship them back when you're finished and receive 3 new colors. They carry the latest colors by Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, Dolce&Gabbana, MAC, and NARS.

This service is pretty exclusive and you need to request an invite.

Now you're probably wondering, since this is a sharing service, is it unhygienic? Actually no, if you get your nails done at a salon you are sharing nail polish with other clients. Also there is no water in nail polish for bacteria to grow in. Lacquerous also request 3 uses per bottle and that you keep the next user in mind when you ship.

Right about now I'm wishing I could get paid to write my blogs so I can get on board with this! Yeah, it seems totally self indulgent in an economic crisis, but I guess if you're a nail polish nut, you might actually be saving money...but probably not.

No Doubt "Looking Hot" Music Video Native American Controversy

No Doubt put out a music video "Looking Hot" portraying a "Cowboys and Indians" wild west fantasy.

The video shows Gwen Stefani tied up as a Native girl held hostage by cowboys, doing smoke signals, roaming the desert on horseback,  and dancing in a wigwam with a wolf.

Many were disgusted and offended by the video. The video was soon after pulled off the web. A once long time fan of No doubt wrote "We are not a trend, we are not a fashion statement! We are human beings, we are a nation, we deserve respect."

No Doubt put out a public apology saying

"As a multi-racial band, our foundation is built upon both diversity and consideration for other cultures. Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialize Native American people, their culture or their history.   Although we consulted with Native American friends and Native American studies experts at the University of California, we realize now that we have offended people.  This is of great concern to us and we are removing the video immediately.  The music that inspired us when we started the band, and the community of friends, family, and fans that surrounds us was built upon respect, unity and inclusiveness.  We sincerely apologize to the Native American community and anyone else offended by this video.  Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are."

No Doubt is not the first artist to do war paint and feathers, but they are the first to be under such scrutiny for doing so. Others have included...

Lana Del Rey....

K$sha....

Julliette Lewis....

And pretty much any hipster at any outdoor festival!

What do you think? Do you think that donning a headdress and war paint is the eqivient of doing black face? Or that it's just a form of expression?

I miss Amy Winehouse

It has been over a year since her death. The 27 Club member recently had a wedding dress of hers stolen. I've been in a blue mood this fall and "Wake up Alone" has been playing on repeat on my laptop.

Her music spoke to me during a horrible break up years ago. I miss her. It was hard not to find cruel unflattering hot mess photos of her. Her frail frame, her closer to heaven hair, vintage inspired tattoos and cat eyes will always be all that is Amy Winehouse style.

Courtney Love Clothing Collection "Never The Bride"

COURTNEY LOVE has revealed the results of her debut clothing collection. The musician posted several pictures of the range, named Never The Bride.

"This is the stuff that I would wear if I was young enough to not look like Bette Davis in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane," Love told The Huffington Post. "In the hem of all the dresses, there's a ruby and it says c***."
Each piece from the grunge-meets-Victoriana range has been made from repurposed vintage clothing, as showcased by model Chloe Norgaard behind-the-scenes on a shoot for Contributor magazine.

The pieces are very vintage, 1920's flapper lacey grunge, things you would imagine Courtney Love wearing.

According the designer, Never The Bride will be stocked on Net-A-Porter -

Leland Bobbe "Half Drag" Series

NY photographer Leland Bobbie has snapped an impressive collection of photos that shows the magic of make up and its ability to transform and express. "Half Drag" is a collection of drag performers who have applied their "feminine alter egos" to one side of their face.

"With this series my intention is to capture both the male and the alter-ego female side of these subjects in one image. Through the power of hair and makeup these men are able to completely transform themselves and find their female side while simultaneously showing their male side. These are composed in camera and are not two separate images joined together,"

Andrej Pejic: Blurring Gender in the fashion world

At First glance one would think, "She's very pretty." Most people do. And Anreej Pejic is very pretty, but at first glance many mistake Pejic as a girl. Andrej Pejic is a rare breed of male model, that models both men's AND women's clothes. His androgynous looks have made him a fashion icon, ranked # 18 on Model.com Top 50 Male Models list.
